Russian minesweeper Yakov Baliyaev deployed unmanned boat Scanda to locate and defuse opposing force naval mines during drills held in the Sea of Okhotsk.

“The minesweeper performed control and reconnaissance search of opposing force naval mines,” the country’s defense ministry said.

To clear a way for the Pacific Fleet task force in the Sea of Okhotsk, the minesweeper deployed an automated underwater mine search, detection, classification system, Levadia acoustic detection equipment, after that the ship launched the unmanned boat.

The minesweeper AK-306 artillery systems destroyed naval mines identified and located by the unmanned boat’s video equipment.

Over 60 combatant and auxiliary ships, as well as 35 naval aircraft, coastal troops units and more than 11,000 were deployed during the drills.
