The Israeli Ministry of Defense (MoD) has decided to acquire 25 F-35 Jets to form a third squadron of the "Adir" (F35) aircraft.
The scope of the deal is estimated at about $3 billion and will be financed from the American aid funds.
Upon completion of the deal, the fleet of the most advanced stealth aircraft in the world, operated by the Israeli Air Force, will be expanded to 75, the israeli MoD announced on its official Telegram channel.
The procurement delegation of the Israeli MoD in the USA will issue an official procurement request (LOR) to the American HAF 35 directorate (JPO). This is in order to complete the approval and signing of the transaction in the coming months, the announcement said.
Israel is the only nation in the Middle East to possess F-35 jets and with the new procurement initiative, will considerably tilt the military balance in its favor over other military powers in the region such as Saudi Arabia, the U.A.E. and Iran.

As part of the original agreement between the Israeli and U.S. governments, the plane's manufacturer, Lockheed Martin, and the engine manufacturer, Pratt & Whitney, pledged to share with Israeli companies the production of the F-35 planes sold to other countries.
The new f-35 deal will allow the continuation of the commitment of the American companies to cooperate in the production of the aircraft parts with the Israeli industries.
