The UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) has granted BAE Systems a contract to advance the Striker II Helmet Mounted Display (HMD) for the Royal Air Force (RAF) Typhoon fleet.
Striker II incorporates an all-digital night vision system and a daylight-readable color display, projecting essential information directly onto the pilot's helmet visor, creating an augmented reality overlay of real-world surroundings and mission-critical data. Within this new agreement, BAE Systems engineers will refine the helmet's capabilities in preparation for initial production, supporting qualification and integration flight testing at BAE Systems' combat air facility in Warton, Lancashire.
Andrea Thompson, Managing Director – Europe & International, BAE Systems’ Air Sector, remarked, “Striker II enhances situational awareness in the cockpit while preventing sensory overload, enabling our electronics and combat air experts to collaborate on further enhancing the pivotal role of Typhoon pilots in our nation's round-the-clock defense and security.”
