Eurofighter Typhoon to get BAE Systems’ Digital GPS Anti-jam Receiver

BAE Systems has announced that its Digital GPS Anti-jam Receiver (DIGAR) has been chosen for the Eurofighter Typhoon’s Phase 4 Enhancements (P4E) capability program, making it the first international platform with DIGAR upgrade.

This upgrade aims to enhance the Typhoon's protection against GPS signal disruptions, jamming, and Radio Frequency (RF) interference, enabling pilots to execute missions in heavily contested RF environments.

Following successful demonstrations of functional compatibility and physical installation feasibility, DIGAR will play a crucial role in fortifying the Eurofighter Typhoon against potential threats. The advanced technology is designed to counteract GPS signal jamming, spoofing, and RF interference.

DIGAR employs sophisticated antenna electronics, high-performance signal processing, and digital beamforming, resulting in significantly improved GPS signal reception and heightened immunity to jamming. These capabilities are vital for combat aircraft navigating contested battle spaces, providing a crucial edge in challenging operational environments.

In addition to DIGAR, the Eurofighter Typhoon will also integrate BAE Systems' new GEMVII-6 airborne digital GPS receiver. The combination of this receiver with the DIGAR antenna electronics unit will enable the platform to perform high-capability digital beamforming anti-jamming, further enhancing its capabilities.

In addition to Typhoon, DIGAR is also installed on the F-16, F-15, and other special-purpose aircraft in the U.S. such as air interdiction and force protection platforms, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance aircraft, and unmanned aerial vehicles.
