Babcock and Hanwha Aerospace have formalized a strategic collaboration with a primary emphasis on leveraging their combined expertise across land, air, and sea domains, particularly in the realm of conventional submarines.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed during the recent visit of the Korean President to the UK, Babcock said in an official statement.

The partnership extends beyond the MoU, as Babcock is already engaged with Hanwha on the Weapon Handling System for the Korean submarine program.

Additionally, Babcock Canada and Hanwha Ocean previously signed a Technical Cooperation Agreement in June 2023. This agreement enables the exchange of capabilities in shipbuilding and submarine sustainment, supporting projects like the Canadian Patrol Submarine Project (CPSP) and the Victoria In Service Support Contract (VISSC).
