Serbia has procured an electronic jamming system system from Russia which is expected to arrive in the country soon.
President Aleksandar Vucic made this announcement yesterday during an event to display the Serbian Armed Forces’ weapons and military equipment.
He did not elaborate on the type of Russian electronic jamming or warfare system his country was procuring.
Russia has several tried and tested electronic warfare systems including those against drones, aircraft and radars of anti-aircraft and artillery systems most of which have been used successfully in Ukraine.
President Vucic announced that new army units equipped with drones would be formed. He expressed the belief that by the end of the year, the Serbian Armed Forces would be able to procure a large number of domestically produced kamikaze drones.
Serbia has obtained attack drones from China and has some built by its domestic industry.
The President said that there was great interest abroad in the latest version of the Serbian armoured personnel carrier Lazar-3 suggesting that its export is possible. An order has been issued to produce 80 Lazar and 112 Milos fighting vehicles.
According to him, funds have been secured for 701 weapons systems, but we still need to provide funds for another 853 systems produced by the domestic industry.
