RBS 70 NG short-range air defence system

The Government of Canada has awarded Saab a contract worth approximately CAD 227 million (SEK 1.8 billion) for the RBS 70 NG short-range air defence system.

The deal, secured through a competitive procurement process, mandates deliveries to commence in 2024.

Saab's RBS 70 NG is characterized by its unjammable laser-beam guidance and auto-tracking technology. The comprehensive order includes firing units, missiles, transport vehicles, training, and support, meeting the urgent operational requirements of Canada's Soldier Portable Air Defence System Program.

This procurement is part of Canada's strategy to enhance its air defence capabilities, focusing on the Enhanced Forward Presence in Latvia.

As part of the agreement, Saab has committed to incorporating Canadian content through its local office and collaboration with Canada-based partners and suppliers.
