Bayraktar AKINCI drone conducted a test launch of Roketsan's UAV-230 air-to-ground supersonic ballistic missile.

Selcuk Bayraktar, Chairman of Baykar, confirmed the test firing via social media on Sunday.

The test was carried out from an altitude of 38,000 feet. The recent firing, which occurred on March 16, utilized the KKS/ANS guided UAV-230 missile, which is Turkey's first domestically developed air-to-surface supersonic missile.

The Bayraktar AKINCI took off from the AKINCI Flight Training and Test Center in Tekirdağ's Çorlu district, deploying two UAV-230 missiles on its wings. It then proceeded to conduct a long-range shooting test near Sinop, where the supersonic missiles hit targets 100 kilometers off the Black Sea coast.

Previous tests involving Akinci included firing trials with the UAV-122, wherein the supersonic missile hit its target twelve times on March 13 and 15. Additionally, the AKINCI demonstrated its capability with other weapon systems, such as the Çakır cruise missile and the ASELFLIR-500 Electro-Optical Reconnaissance, Surveillance, and Targeting System, developed by Aselsan.

The UAV-230 supersonic missile, equipped with a fragmentation warhead, is designed to engage stationary land and sea targets, air defense systems, lightly armored vehicles, command centers, and personnel. With an operational range exceeding 150 kilometers, the missile provides flexibility in engaging various target types. Utilizing GNSS-supported inertial guidance, the UAV-230 ensures precision targeting while countering jamming systems, offering a fire-and-forget capability for critical missions.
