Kyrgyzstan received a delivery of Bayraktar Akinci and Aksungur advanced unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from two Turkish defense manufacturers, Baykar and Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) respectively, on October 28.
This was reported by Defense Turk on Saturday.
Furthermore, Baykar’s Bayraktar TB2 UCAVs also participated in the event, attended by President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov.
During the event, President Japarov not only observed the infrastructure of the base and the UAVs but also inspected the Border Organization's facilities. This procurement marked the first-ever acquisition of UAVs by the Border Agency in Kyrgyzstan's history.
As part of the ceremony, the delivered UAVs were showcased with their supplied ammunition. Notably, the AKINCI TİHA produced by Baykar was equipped with MAM-T ammunition manufactured by ROKETSAN. President Japarov officially signed the TAI-produced AKSUNGUR SİHA during the event.
This recent acquisition follows Kyrgyzstan's reception of Bayraktar TB2 UCAVs in December 2021, and the opening of a new base for these UCAVs in September 2022.
In 2021, Kyrgyzstan procured Bayraktar TB2 drones from the renowned Turkish defense manufacturer, Baykar, with the intention of deploying them to enhance the capabilities of the country's Border Guard Service. Just a few short weeks later, in December of the same year, the nation's border guards were officially equipped with these advanced UAVs, marking a significant milestone in bolstering their operational capabilities.
