The Swedish Defence Procurement Agency (FMV) has signed a contract to purchase 321 six-wheeled armored vehicles from Finland-based Patria.
The contract is valued at around €470 million, marking one of the largest deals ever secured by Patria in Sweden. The 321 vehicles, known as Pansarterrängbil 300 in Sweden, will be stationed at the Livgardet regiment in Kungsängen and various other units across the country. Previously, Patria had delivered 20 6x6 vehicles under a separate contract signed in April 2023.
The Patria 6x6 vehicle slated for delivery is the troop transportation model, incorporating the latest vehicle technology to provide protection for up to 12 crew members. Notably, the vehicle is modular, allowing it to be configured for a diverse range of purposes. Besides troop transport, it will serve roles in command and control as well as ambulance duties within Sweden.
The Patria 6x6 vehicle was selected as the platform for the Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) collaboration program involving multiple European countries, including Finland, Latvia, Sweden, and Germany. In January 2024, Finland acquired an additional 40 6x6 vehicles, bringing their total purchase to 131. Sweden joined the 6x6 research and development program in 2022.
