Danish CV90 infantry fighting vehicles are set to undergo upgrades, including receiving an improved turret and an anti-tank guided missile (ATGM), under a contract inked between BAE Systems and the country’s defense ministry.
This Mid-Life Upgrade (MLU) contract between BAE Systems and the Danish defense ministry follows the previously signed framework agreement regarding repair and maintenance services.
Under the contract, the Danish CV90 infantry fighting vehicles will be integrated with the new D-series turret, which provides improvements in vehicle balance and new ways to introduce a variety of weaponry. The new vehicle also offers improvements to its crew, continuous vehicle improvements, and data analysis from the CV90 User Club. The User Club consists of all the user nations operating CV90 fleets.
The upgrades include equipping the Danish CV90s with rubber tracks that decrease the vehicle’s weight, freeing up payload for the addition of new systems, as well as reducing noise and vibrations to minimize long-term biomechanical impact on the crew and reduce crew fatigue. The upgraded vehicles will have an anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) and Defence Aid Suite (DAS) sensor system.
The delivery of the program is planned between 2026 and 2029.
