The Polish Army is poised to receive a shipment of FlyEye miniature unmanned aerial systems from the domestic manufacturer WB Group.
A contract for the delivery of seven FlyEye aircraft was officially signed on April 17.
The announcement was made by Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, who unveiled plans for the army to acquire a total of 400 FlyEye sets, equating to 1,600 drones, over the coming years. These drones will serve crucial roles in reconnaissance missions and will be deployed across various military units, including the Territorial Defense Forces.
During the contract signing ceremony, Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz highlighted the effectiveness of FlyEye equipment based on its operational success against Russian forces in Ukraine. He emphasized that the FlyEye systems supplied to the Polish Armed Forces will undergo continuous enhancements to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
The Ministry of National Defense (MON) has confirmed that deliveries of the latest versions of the FlyEye system are scheduled to be completed by the end of this year. Notably, in November 2023, the army received five upgraded FlyEye sets under a contract signed in December 2022, advancing them to FlyEye version 3.6. These upgrades featured improvements to navigation systems, enhanced security measures, and integration with the Automated Fire Control System (ZZKO) TOPAZ.
