The U.S. State Department has approved a $700 million arms sale to the Netherlands, including 265 Advanced Anti-Radiation Guided Missiles -Extended Range (AARGM-ER) and related equipment.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notified Congress of this sale on April 24, 2024.

The Netherlands seeks 265 AGM-88G AARGM-ER missiles and spare parts to enhance its air defense capabilities. The sale aligns with U.S. foreign policy goals and supports a NATO ally in Europe.

The proposed sale will improve the Netherlands’ capability to meet current and future threats by suppressing and destroying land or sea-land based radar emitters associated with enemy air defenses. This capability denies the adversary the use of its air defense systems, thereby improving the survivability of the Netherlands tactical aircraft, the Pentagon said in a release.

Northrop Grumman Systems, based in Falls Church, VA, will be the principal contractor.
