Ten Ukrainian soldiers have completed a specialized training program in the Netherlands, focusing on the maintenance of F-16 fighter aircraft.
This training is part of the Netherlands' commitment to provide at least 24 F-16s to Ukraine, which require regular maintenance to ensure operational readiness.
The comprehensive training program covered critical aspects essential for the safety and functionality of the fighter jets. The Ukrainian trainees learned to maintain vital components such as the pilot's helmet, oxygen systems, and onboard parachutes. Additionally, they were trained in the assembly and inspection of the survival packs, which include food, medicine, and other supplies to help pilots survive for several days following an emergency landing.
The training was meticulously designed by the Flight Safety Equipment cluster (VVU) to prepare the soldiers for all potential risks associated with F-16 missions. This rigorous preparation is aimed at enhancing the protection of Ukrainian pilots by ensuring that the aircraft are in optimal condition before each flight.
In addition to this training initiative, the Netherlands is a co-initiator of the European F-16 Training Center (EFTC) in Romania, which has already received 11 F-16s for training purposes. This center aims to further enhance the capabilities of European forces in maintaining and operating F-16 fighter jets.
