Rheinmetall to Supply L52 Gun Barrels for European PzH 2000 Howitzers
Defense contractor to deliver a three-digit number of gun barrel systems from 2024 to 2029
Rheinmetall has been commissioned by a European customer to supply a three-digit number of L52 gun barrel systems for the Panzerhaubitze 2000 (PzH 2000) self-propelled howitzer.
The delivery of these gun barrels is scheduled to take place between 2024 and 2029.
The PzH 2000, developed in the late 20th century and continually updated, is known for its long-range firepower. The howitzer can fire ten rounds per minute and achieve ranges of 30 to 40 kilometers with conventional ammunition and up to 67 kilometers with range-enhanced ammunition.
Several European countries operate the PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzer including Croatia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania and the Netherlands.
