Ukraine’s armed forces revealed their latest maritime unmanned platform, the "Stalker 5" drone, at the Black Sea Security Forum 2024 in Odesa, Ukraine.
The unveiling was reported by Dumskaya online media.
The Stalker 5 is a 5-meter-long unmanned boat with a width of 1.2 meters. It features a gasoline engine capable of propelling it at speeds of up to 75 km/h, with a cruising speed of around 55 km/h. The drone has a range of 600 km and a warhead weight of 150 kg.
In addition to its offensive capabilities, the Stalker 5 includes a special compartment within its hull designed for transporting provisions and essential equipment to islands or coastal areas where the Defense Forces of Ukraine are stationed.
The drone is also designed for reconnaissance and coastal patrol duties in both maritime and riverine border areas. Communication with the platform control is facilitated through Starlink technology.
The cost of each Stalker 5 drone is approximately €60,000.
This latest addition joins Ukraine's existing fleet of unmanned surface platforms, including the Sea Baby and Magura V5. These platforms are integral to Ukraine's defense strategy, particularly in countering potential threats from the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
