Safran Pursues AI Advancement with Talks to Acquire Preligens for €220M

Safran has announced ongoing discussions to acquire Preligens, an AI solutions provider, for €220 million.

Preligens, established in 2016, specializes in AI analytics for aerospace and defense, offering algorithms for analyzing imagery, video, and acoustic signals. The company's technology enhances situational awareness and decision-making for clients in the military sector.

Preligens, headquartered in France, reported sales of €28 million in 2023 and employs around 220 individuals, including 140 engineers.

The potential acquisition presents an opportunity for Safran to integrate AI capabilities into its offerings, particularly in Manufacturing 4.0. Additionally, Safran aims to strengthen Preligens' international presence, especially in the U.S. market.

The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and consultation with Preligens' employee representatives, with the closing anticipated in the third quarter of 2024.
