Saab has secured a $123 million (SEK 1.3 billion) order from the Lithuanian Ministry of Defence (MoD) for the delivery of its Mobile Short Range Air Defence (MSHORAD) solution.
The contract, part of a framework agreement with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV), spans from 2025 to 2027. Under this agreement, Lithuania can procure Saab's mobile short-range air defence missile system, RBS 70 NG.
The order includes Mobile Firing Units, Mobile Radar Units utilizing the Giraffe 1X radar, a Command and Control (C2) System, a comprehensive training package, and the RBS 70 NG trainer. Saab will integrate MSHORAD into JLTV vehicles manufactured by Oshkosh Defense before delivery.
Lithuania’s Minister of National Defence, Laurynas Kasčiūnas, said, "MSHORAD is designed to ensure the protection of certain facilities, areas, and critical infrastructure. The advantage of this system is mobility, making it an essential addition that will significantly bolster the Lithuanian Armed Forces' capabilities. Currently, Lithuania employs the older generation RBS 70 air defence system and Bolide missiles."
MSHORAD integrates radar, firing units, and command systems under the Saab GBAD C2 architecture.
