At the Valiant Shield 24 exercise, Raytheon showcased a simulated missile engagement using the U.S. Army's Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor (LTAMDS) and Integrated Air and Missile Defense Battle Command System (IBCS) with the Navy's Standard Missile-6 (SM-6).
The demonstration utilized LTAMDS simulators and SM-6 engagement control software connected to IBCS, highlighting the integration of these Army and Navy systems. This test confirmed the SM-6's potential role within the Army Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) framework, proving its capability as an additional effector alongside IBCS and LTAMDS.
The experiment combined physical hardware and simulations, successfully detecting and identifying incoming threats, transferring target and track data, issuing launch commands, and guiding the missile to intercept.
Valiant Shield is a biennial exercise aimed at enhancing joint-combined force capabilities in the Indo-Pacific, involving government and industry collaboration to improve multi-domain operations.
