AVIO S.p.A. and the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Aviation & Missile Center have announced a collaboration to develop and rapidly prototype a solid rocket motor for surface-to-air applications.

This project will utilize both parties' expertise to qualify the propulsion system using a design-to-manufacturing approach, potentially enabling a swift transition to production.

The collaboration aims to enhance the capabilities of surface-to-air systems, focusing on efficiency and speed in development and production processes.

At the ongoing Farnborough International Airshow in the U.K., Avio signed a contract with Raytheon to advance the development of solid rocket motors for defense purposes.
