Serbia Could Ink Rafale Deal During Macron's Belgrade Visit

Expectations are high that France could sign a deal with Serbia for the purchase of Rafale fighter jets during President Macron's visit to Serbia on August 29 & 30.

Serbian president, Aleksandar Vucic told AFP on Wednesday that he hoped to conclude the purchase of the French-made combat aircraft during Macron's visit.

In an address quoted by the Serbian media, Vucic said, "What is important for us is that we talk with Macron about very important issues, about investments, artificial intelligence, and work at the airport."

He added that they will also discuss military-technical cooperation.

French publication LaTribune reported that the two capitals - Paris and Belgrade - quoting a French government source.

"Our hope is to see this discussion come to a conclusion during Emmanuel Macron's visit."
