Pratt & Whitney has opened a new 845,000-square-foot facility in Oklahoma City in a $255 million investment to produce engines, including the F135 used to power the F-35 jet.
The Oklahoma City site currently employs over 500 full-time staff, supplemented by an additional 500 contract and partner employees. The new investment is expected to generate 100 additional full-time positions within the next five years.
This facility is positioned to address both current and future sustainment requirements, supporting engines for aircraft including the F-35, F-22, C-17, B-52, E-3, F-15, and F-16.
The facility incorporates automation technologies aimed at improving process efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness. It is also designed with LEED-certified energy-efficient systems and waste reduction processes, reflecting RTX's dedication to sustainability and operational efficiency.
Strategically located adjacent to Tinker Air Force Base—the largest maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility for the U.S. Department of Defense—the new site will bolster Pratt & Whitney’s global sustainment network and enhance its public-private partnership with the U.S. Air Force.
