The Clothing and Personal Equipment Company (KPU Company) has partnered with the Penitentiary Institution Almelo to prepare old military uniforms for the Ukrainian armed forces.

Starting this week, prisoners have begun checking, sorting, and washing tens of thousands of uniforms for reuse in the conflict zone. The aim is to make approximately 30,000 uniforms availablse for Ukraine.

The Dutch military's transition to new combat suits has left old uniforms surplus. These uniforms are now being processed for reuse through a special collaboration. A working group within the Dutch Ministry of Defence, focused on supporting Ukraine, identified this opportunity.

The KPU company delivered the first 76 pallets of uniforms to Almelo, where prisoners, following instructions from KPU employees, will prepare the clothing for shipment to Ukraine.
