Turkey Completes Engine Development for ATMACA, SOM Missiles

Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) and Kale Jet Engines have successfully completed the "Turbojet Engine Development Project," initiated by the Presidency of Defense Industries.

According to a report by SavunmaSanayiST, the goal of the project was to develop a national turbojet missile engine for Turkey's ATMACA and SOM missiles. With the KTJ-3200 now in mass production and delivery, this objective has been successfully achieved.

To mark the completion, a ceremony and "Engine Projects Evaluation Workshop" were held in Çanakkale, hosted by Kale Jet Engines. The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, President of the Presidency of Defense Industries, and his delegation.

Prof. Dr. Görgün stated, “Today, we are happy to see that the vision of a Turkey that can meet its own needs with its own resources is firmly established. These efforts, rooted in determination and vision, will continue to shape the future of our country.”

The KTJ-3200 turbojet engine, developed by Kale Jet Engines, is now integrated into several key Turkish missile systems, including the ATMACA, SOM, and ÇAKIR missiles.

This achievement also marks Turkey's success in overcoming past challenges, such as the French embargo on the TR40 engine, which had previously disrupted SOM missile exports, including to Azerbaijan.

The KTJ-3200 engine has eliminated this obstacle, further strengthening Turkey’s missile capabilities.

In addition to the KTJ-3200, the KTJ-1750 engine powers the ÇAKIR missiles, while the KTJ-3700 has been specifically developed for the KARA ATMACA Cruise Missile.
