The Israel Ministry of Defence has awarded Elbit Systems an $80 million contract to develop and install an advanced Airborne Self-Protection Suite on the F-16I fleet.
Under the contract, the company will equip the Israeli Air Force with a self-protection suite for the F-16I aircraft, enhancing its survivability in hostile environments. The suite includes an Electronic Warfare (EW) system integrated with an Electro-Optical (EO) Passive Missile Warning and Launch Detection System (PAWS), providing protection against various threats. Additionally, the system features an Infra-Red (IR) Missile Warning and Launch Detection System and an advanced chaff and flare dispensing system.
Contract to eliminate Israel's dependence on external factors
This process joins a series of strategic deals promoted by the IMOD under Director General Maj. Gen. (Res.) Eyal Zamir to strengthen production independence in Israeli defense industries and reduce dependency on external factors. This is to ensure the IDF's qualitative military edge and support its current and future operational needs under all conditions.
