UAE's Edge Signs Contract with Hungary to Supply CARACAL Sniper Rifles

The United Arab Emirates’ EDGE Group has signed a contract with Hungary to supply CARACAL sniper rifles, Hungarian Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky announced after the UAE–Hungary Business Roundtable in Abu Dhabi.

The agreement is part of broader defence cooperation between the two countries. Hungary also signed a Letter of Intent with EDGE Group to enhance collaboration in defence innovation and research and development. The minister emphasized that strengthening ties with the UAE, a key military and economic power in the Arabian Gulf, supports Hungary’s defence industry and national security.

In April 2024, Szalay-Bobrovniczky met UAE Minister of State for Defence Affairs Mohammad Fadhel Al Mazrouei to discuss military and defence industry cooperation. The UAE has been actively involved in international military and security efforts, including in the Sahel region, where both nations share interests in counterterrorism and regional stability.
