Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KONGSBERG) has been awarded a $70 million contract for the Joint Strike Missile (JSM), as confirmed by the U.S. Department of Defense.

This modification brings the total cumulative value of the contract to $208 million. The company will carry out the work at its facilities in Kongsberg, Norway, with expected completion in 2027.

The Joint Strike Missile, developed by the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (NDMA), is designed to integrate with the F-35A Lightning II fighter jet's internal weapon bay, maintaining the aircraft's stealth capabilities. The missile is specifically engineered for long-range precision strikes against both land and sea targets, with a range of over 275 kilometers. Its low-altitude, sea-skimming flight profile minimizes the risk of detection by enemy radar systems, providing a strategic advantage for military forces.
