The Dutch supply ship Den Helder will enter service on October 1, providing logistical support and operational assistance for the Royal Netherlands Navy.

Built at Damen Shipyards in Galaţi, Romania, the Den Helder arrived in the Netherlands in November, completing sea trials that tested its propulsion, radar, navigation, and safety systems. Final outfitting, including the installation of weapon systems and sensors, is underway under the supervision of the Materiel and IT Command.

The vessel will deliver fuel, ammunition, spare parts, and food to naval units worldwide. The Den Helder will also support humanitarian missions and counter-drug operations in the Caribbean.

The vessel features a highly automated design requiring fewer crew members and includes virtual reality training and online condition monitoring to reduce maintenance downtime.
