Avantel Limited has secured an INR 11.37 crore contract ($1.4 million) from Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) to supply satellite communication (Satcom) equipment for the Indian Navy’s next-generation offshore patrol vessel (NGOPV).

The order aims to improve secure maritime communication, supporting naval operations and surveillance.

Under the contract, Avantel will supply, install, and commission Satcom systems, strengthening India’s maritime defence communication network. The project, scheduled for execution between February 2026 and March 2027, aligns with the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, emphasizing domestic defence capabilities.

GSL, a Central Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, specializes in designing and building naval and commercial vessels. The shipyard aims to enhance operational command and data exchange at sea through Satcom technology.

Avantel specializes in satellite communications, radar systems, and software-defined radios (SDRs). The company continues to develop strategic communication solutions to support India’s maritime security.
