U.S. Space Force Awards V2X $62M to Support COBRA DANE Radar in Alaska

V2X Inc. has secured a $62 million contract to continue supporting the COBRA DANE radar system in Alaska, a key U.S. Space Force asset for missile defense and space domain awareness.

The award reaffirms V2X’s role in maintaining the operational readiness of COBRA DANE, a massive phased-array radar located at Eareckson Air Station on Shemya Island in the Aleutians. Measuring 120 feet in height with a 95-foot diameter radar face, the system can track objects up to 2,000 miles away.

The radar supports ballistic missile defense by detecting and tracking potential threats, while also playing a vital role in monitoring satellites and orbital debris—making it a cornerstone of U.S. space domain awareness.

V2X’s extended contract will run through March 2027. It includes full-spectrum mission support, from operations and maintenance to engineering upgrades.
