Thales has received a letter of award from Malaysia for the supply of two additional Ground Master 400 alpha (GM400α) radars, during Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim’s state visit to France.

The new order brings Malaysia’s total to four GM400-series radars, reinforcing the Royal Malaysian Air Force’s (RMAF) long-range air surveillance across Peninsular and East Malaysia.

The GM400α detects a range of aerial threats—including fighter jets, missiles, helicopters, and low-flying drones—within a 515-kilometre radius.

Thales, present in Malaysia for over 40 years, will partner with Weststar Group for radar deployment, site adaptation, and long-term support. The collaboration includes knowledge transfer, maintenance, and on-the-job training to build local expertise.

Malaysia was the first customer of the original GM400, and this follow-on order signals continued trust in Thales’ systems.
