Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS)

Denmark has formally joined the multinational Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) programme by signing the final three foundational agreements and placing an order for 129 Patria 6x6 armoured vehicles.

The Danish Ministry of Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) simultaneously signed the Research & Development (R&D) Agreement, the Frame Agreement, and the Life Cycle Management (LCM) Agreement, marking the completion of Denmark’s integration into the CAVS programme. This follows its signing of the Technical Arrangement with participating countries in April 2025.

With the procurement of 129 CAVS vehicles, Denmark becomes the fifth country to join the programme after Finland, Latvia, Sweden, and Germany. Deliveries are scheduled to begin later this year.

The Common Armoured Vehicle System programme was launched in 2019 by Finland and Latvia with the goal of developing and jointly procuring a modular 6x6 armoured vehicle platform. Patria was selected as the industrial lead.

The CAVS programme seeks to boost European defence cooperation, enhance interoperability, and reduce costs through joint procurement while using local industries to strengthen supply security.

Patria 6x6 is designed for troop transport and a variety of combat support roles, offering modular design, STANAG-level protection, and high off-road mobility. The vehicle can carry 10 soldiers plus a crew of two, and offers optional amphibious capability.
