Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has awarded Thales a contract to equip the Swedish Armed Forces with a next generation IP-based tactical communication infrastructure under the KomNod Programme. The Swedish Armed Forces (SwAF) is on its way to implement an IP-based communication infrastructure. One critical component in the overall infrastructure will be integrated voice and IP services in vehicle platforms. Thales’s comprehensive solution offers a large number of communication services, such as radio gateway, telephony, alarms, routing, ETHERNET, intercom and management services. These services are based upon the next generation of the well-known, field proven SOTASIP system, a fully IP-based ruggedised multi-service vehicular platform with a small physical footprint. As Glenn Pedersen, Managing Director of Thales Norway, explains: "We are extremely proud of the trust we have been given by FMV as part of this programme. Our success is a recognition of Thales’s technological excellence and expertise in modern tactical communication infrastructure, and a demonstration of Thales’s strong international presence as Thales’s companies in Norway and the Netherlands will work together, leveraging each other’s centre of excellence, creating synergies which are highly beneficial to the customer”.
