SELEX Galileo will showcase its advanced defense electronics at this year’s Defence Services Asia (DSA) event in Kuala Lumpur which begins on the 16th-19th April. Targeting Malaysia’s maritime patrol aircraft (MPA) requirement, the defense giant will be promoting its manned and unmanned surveillance mission system capabilities. The Falco Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) will also be promoted, along with leading-edge radar and EO solutions such as the Seaspray, Gabbiano, PicoSAR and Eost46. SELEX Galileo is also offering its innovative AESA radars, IRST systems and avionics for next generation fighters, trainers and upgrade programmes in the region. “SELEX Galileo already supplies several operationally proven technologies into Malaysia such as the Seaspray radar, multi sensor turret electro-optic system, Sky Guardian ESM & RWR and LINAPS artillery pointing system and we’re competing for a number of further programmes to help deliver Malaysia’s future capability requirements.” said Tim Savory, SELEX Galileo’s VP for Far East regional marketing, adding “We’re now looking to form stronger partnerships and potentially enter into joint ventures with Malaysian companies to strengthen local involvement in future programmes”. In the battlespace, SELEX Galileo will be promoting a whole range of situational awareness aids for ground troops ranging from individual handheld thermal imagers to complete integrated awareness systems such as the Road Marshall for land vehicles. Supporting the Eurofighter Typhoon campaign for Malaysia’s MRCA competition, SELEX Galileo will be highlighting its mission critical systems for the fighter such as the Praetorian electronic warfare suite, the PIRATE IRST for stealth operations and the Captor-M radar, the Typhoon’s main sensor. SELEX Galileo is responsible for 60% of the Eurofighter Typhoon’s avionics and will be a key partner in bringing the technology to Malaysia if the Eurofighter is chosen.
