Australia To Acquire 12 Advanced Submarines

The Australian defense ministry announced that it will acquire 12 advanced submarines to replace the ageing Collins boats. And that its future submarine system center will be based in Adelaide and this would help for the future submarine program. This project will be reinforced as part of the 2013 defense white paper. The future submarine system will be established this year and include Defense personnel from the Navy, Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO), the Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) and the Australian and international Defence Industry. Stephen Smith, Australian Defence Minister, said, "We will be establishing the future submarines project systems centre here in Adelaide based on the model of the air warfare destroyer systems centre”. The Systems Centre includes evaluation of options, design work, program management, engineering, logistics and production planning.
