Safran will be showcasing its innovative security solutions for the first time at Russia’s major air show.

At the MAKS 2013 show, Safran will unveil biometric identification systems (Morpho-Face-Investigate, based on facial recognition; Morpho Tatoo, for the identification of tattoos, etc.) and explosive and narcotic trace detectors (Itemiser DX, StreetLab Mobile, Mobile Trace, etc.).

Safran will also be displaying its flagship products for aerospace, including a model of the SaM146 jet engine. Produced by PowerJet, a joint venture between Snecma (Safran) and NPO Saturn of Russia, the SaM146 powers the Sukhoi Superjet 100 regional jet. Safran’s stand will feature two major assemblies manufactured at the VolgAero plant (a joint venture between Snecma and NPO Saturn) in Rybinsk, Russia: the CFM56-7B booster spool and the SaM146 turbine rear frame (TRF) – one of the main components allowing the engine to be attached to the aircraft.

Visitors will also get a close look at the Turbomeca (Safran) Arrius 2G1 turboshaft engine, a version designed the Kamov Ka-226T, a Russian helicopter with dual, counter-rotating rotors.

Microturbo’s (Safran) e-APU auxiliary power unit will be on display for the first time at this air show. This innovative new APU is designed to meet the growing electrical power requirements of new-generation airplanes and helicopters, while also meeting the latest reliability and environmental standards.

The number of innovative defense products will be at display, including the LINS 100RS inertial navigation system, produced by RS Alliance, a joint venture between Sagem (Safran) and Russian companies ITT (Inertial Technologies of Technokomplex) and Rosoboronexport. This high-performance navigation system calls on latest-generation laser gyros.
