The Russian ministry of defense on Thursday published a series of videos showcasing the production, deployment and installation and testing of its latest missile defense systems on its official Youtube channel.
Among the videos published by the MoD, one video showcases the production of Sarmat Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM) and Burevestnik missiles, workshop where Ocean Multipurpose System, ‘Poseidon’ based on unmanned underwater vehicles are assembled and a recording of the deployment of Peresvet combat laser system.
The video description stated that the work on Poseidon is as per schedule.
The next video shows an installation and subsequent test launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile Avangard. The video begins with the installation of the rocket on the launch pad. The animation shows the separation of the Vanguard combat unit from the launch vehicle and its active maneuvering as the target approaches.
The defense and industrial complex of Russia has completed the development of the Avangard missile system with fundamentally new equipment - a planning winged combat unit and the enterprises will begin to mass-produce it, the video description stated.
Another video shows the third ballistic test of the Sarmat ICBM in Plesetsk. The Sarmat ICBMs will replace Russian strategic missiles RS-20V in the Strategic Missile Forces division. They are expected to be inducted in 2019.
When moving towards the target, the ICBM is capable of maneuvering, both laterally (by several thousand kilometers) and vertically, which ensures unpredictability of its flight for anti-missile weapons, the possibility of bypassing the zones of action of their information and fire facilities, the MoD description stated.
