US Army Awards $120 Million In Infantry Contracts To Oshkosh, GDLS

General Dynamics Land Systems today won a $74.7 million contract from the U.S. Marine Corps Systems Command for “egress upgrade kits” to improve its fleet of Cougar infantry vehicles.

The company’s Force Protection subsidiary, created when GDLS acquired Ladson, S.C.-based Force Protection Inc. in 2011, will develop and produce 916 egress kits for the Cougar by September 2015 under that contract, according to an official statement.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Army Tacom Life Cycle Management Command also awarded a $47.7 million modification to a previous contract, for Oshkosh Defense to build 231 new vehicles by August 2015.

The business unit of Oshkosh Corp. will complete those vehicles under its Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) program, which covers a fleet of 2.5- to 5-ton trucks and trailers built on a common chassis.

Oshkosh has traditionally housed various program management and sales employees for the FMTV in Warren, but its manufacturing operations are in Wisconsin.
