RT LTA Systems will introduce its Skystar 400 aerostat for use in intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and communications applications at the upcoming AUSA exhibition at Washington D.C from October 13 to 18, the company said in a press release Monday.

The Skystar 400 comes with four optical fiber cables, and is capable of carrying a heavier payload and enables extended communication volume & range.

The Skystar 400 carries up to 143 lbs (65 kg) at a record altitude of 1500 ft. Using four fiber optic threads in the tether, the system provides premium quality broadband data transmission and high signal rates. Designed for operational uses, it delivers high mobility, rapid deployment capabilities, and smooth performance in the most extreme weather conditions.

According to Rami Shmueli, RT LTA’s CEO, “Similar to a medium size tactical system, the 400 is portable. However, its performance is comparable to that of the large strategic aerostat systems that exist in the market today. Today, at a time when defense budgets around the world are being re-structured, the cost-effective Skystar 400 system is already attracting considerable interest.”
