China is displaying FD-2000 air defense missile system, F-22P frigate and LPD dock landing ship eyeing South East Asian defense market at LIMA 2015.
On Tuesday, media falsely reported that a representative of China Precision Machinery Export-Import Corporation (CPMEIC) had confirmed the long-awaited missile deal with Turkey during the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace exhibition in Malaysia. Media reported that an agreement to sell the HQ-9 air defense missile system to Turkey has been confirmed.
The news was proven false after a spokesperson of the company dismissed the news during an interview with Xinhua News Agency, saying the representative's words were misinterpreted.
Turkey chose the CPMEIC to co-produce a US$4 billion long-range air and missile defense system in September 2013.
According to the initial deal, the Chinese company will transfer Turkey the critical technology and the source codes of the system.
The Turkish side has been delaying the deal under the pressure from NATO.
