Pakistan Showcases Super Mushshak Basic Trainer At Romanian Air Show

Following the spectacular debut of the JF-17 fighter aircraft at the Paris Air Show, Pakistan has showcased the Super Mushshak basic trainer at  a similar event in Romania.

The indigenously developed light trainer aircraft took to the skies in the Romanian capital, Bucharest on June 19 and performed aerobatics, various media reported last week.

The Romanian Air Force is said to be evaluating the Super Mushshak aircraft for induction as primary flight trainer aircraft. Pakistan has recently signed an MoU with Romania for boosting the trade, culture and defence collaboration.

The Super Mushshak is an upgraded variant of the MFI-17 Mushshak basic trainer. It was designed by and is being manufactured at the Aircraft Manufacturing Factory, Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC), Pakistan with help from the Chengdu Aircraft Corporation (CAC) of China.

Pakistan had last year signed a deal with Iraq to supply it with an unspecified number of basic trainer aircraft to the Iraqi Air Force and is eyeing similar deals in other Middle Eastern countries.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka has denied media reports emanating from Pakistan that its JF-17 Thunder fighter has been selected by its Air Force while confirming that talks are on between the two countries to possibly purchase the aircraft. A PAC spokesperson had set off speculation at the Paris air show when he announced that the JF-17 had found its first customer in an "Asian country".
