Egypt today has received first three of the 24 Rafales it ordered in a $6 billion deal with France in February this year.

Egyptian authorities took charge of the planes at an air base in southern France and will be taken to Cairo by trained pilots on Tuesday, AFP reported.

Egypt signed a deal with France for single FREMM frigate from DCNS, 16 two seater Rafales and eight single-seater Rafales on February 16 this year. The contract also included Air-to Air Missile, Scalp cruise missile by MBDA and Sagem.

Egypt ordered AASM hammer guided missiles for its Rafales last month.
