Aselsan, Havelsan Win $220 Million In Turkish Landing Platform Dock

State-controlled defense firms Aselsan and Havelsan have won a 200 million euro (US $219 million) electronic systems sub-contract for the Turkish navy’s first landing platform dock (LPD).

The companies announced the signing of the contract with Sedef shipyards Thursday. The contract involves supplying electronics systems and their integration on the LPD.

Aselsan won a 127 million euro (US $139 million) contract to provide communications, satellite and IFF systems, STOP guns, acoustics, sonars and radars, electronic warfare systems, infrared tracking devices, laser warning systems and cruise systems.

Havelsan won a 87 million euro (US $95 million) contract that includes warfare management systems ADVENT, CCTV system, tactical communication system, mission force and landing force command center and control systems.

Turkey signed Sedef shipyard to build the country’s amphibious landing platform dock warship for the Naval forces on May 7 this year.

Turkish companies, including Aselsan and Havelsan, will produce and install several parts of the ship’s components, including armaments, electronics and communications systems, Müjdat Uludağ, a senior official at Undersecretary for Defense Industries (SSM) had said.

Navantia, a Spanish company is helping Sedef designing the ship.
