The Russian S300M Burevestnik (Stormbringer) UAV is scheduled for mass production next month.

According to Russian Media, Moscow plans to showcase the drone during the upcoming MAKS-2015 aerospace show. It will be the first drone set for mass production.

The drone is designed by Unmanned Aerial Systems design bureau and will be used for civilian and military installations.

The S300M Burevestnik has a flying wing design, a laser homing system and a system of automatic jettisoning of wings which in a crash landing situation will minimize the impact thus preventing a serious damage to the aircraft.

Aviakor engineer Vladimir Tolokontsev told Zvezda TV on Thursday, “The S300M is extremely versatile, ideal for air reconnaissance missions and for observation of major installations in any weather,”.

“As far as I know, it can handle wind gusts of up to 15 meters per second,” he added.
