BAE Systems To Support UK Armed Forces Secure Communications System

BAE Systems has won a $9.9 million contract from UK Ministry of defense to support and train personnel in using the Falcon secure communications system.

The contract follows the successful completion of an initial Conversion Training Programme which converted Army and RAF personnel from legacy systems onto Falcon, a system that has become the primary secure operational level communications system for the Armed Forces, the company announced today.

Falcon is a secure, deployable broadband voice, data and video communications system that provides vital defence information to the battle space.

Designed and delivered by BAE Systems, the system was accepted by the British Army in 2012 and has been deployed on operations since 2014.

Colonel Matt Fensom the Commandant of the Defence School of Communications and Information Systems said, “ We have welcomed the support that BAE Systems has provided in ensuring the transition of Falcon training to an established training programme has been as smooth as possible here within the Defence School of Communications Information Systems (DSCIS).”

Working in partnership with Babcock, the team provide the training infrastructure, management, support, trainers and training development staff to continued training development and delivery of the Falcon System for the next four and a half years.

Under leadership of a team from based at our Christchurch site, the team will continue to operate out of two established training facilities at Blandford, Dorset and RAF Leeming in North Yorkshire.  The contract also has options to expand and extend through this period.
