Russia is using its latest guided weaponry that include laser-guided missiles H-29L, KH-25 and KAB-500, Betab-500 air bombs in Syria.
The Russian Air Force used high-precision laser-guided H-29L missiles in air raids on "terrorist positions" in Syria, Spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry, Col. Igor Klimov Russia Today website quoted Klimov as saying in a statement Saturday.
He said that after a missile was launched, the pilot illuminated a target with a laser-controlled aimer, while the fighter jet continued to maneuver.
The missile is being fired by Sukhoi Su-24 and Su-34 bombers, Klimov added. SU-24 jets were armed with KH-25 laser-guided missiles as well. Photographs of the same were posted on micro-blogging site twitter.
A powerful precision electro-optical TV-guided KAB-500 air bomb was used against an ISIS location near Maarrat al-Numan, destroying its facilities, weapons, ammunition, fuel and equipment.
A bunker-busting BETAB-500 air bomb dropped from a Sukhoi Su-34 bomber near Raqqa has eliminated the command post of one of the terror groups, together with an underground storage facility for explosives and munitions.
Russia said on Saturday it will step up air strikes in Syria, escalating its military intervention which Moscow says is weakening Daesh, but which Western powers say aims to support the Syrian leader.
