Ukraine and Thailand have signed an agreement on joint production of BTR-3 armored fighting vehicles (AFV) in Thailand, the press service of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) has reported.
"The agreement was signed as part of the Ukrainian delegation's participation in the Defense & Security 2015 international exhibition held in Bangkok.
The document provides for the localization of production of BTR-3 armored fighting vehicles in Thailand," the report said.
The National Security and Defense Council said that the Ukrainian delegation was headed by Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak and also included NSDC Deputy Head Oleh Hladkovsky, chairman of Ukroboronprom state concern Roman Romanov, and Ukrspecexport CEO Pavlo Bukin.
The deal is a blow to Russia’s Rosoboronexport which was expecting to clinch a similar deal for its BMP-3 AFVs.
