Boeing and India’s Tata Advanced Systems (TASL) have signed a joint venture to produce fuselage for Apache helicopters and will be setting up a facility in Telangana.

Boeing India and TASL announced Wednesday that they will be setting up a facility together in the Southern State of Hyderabad, India to make fuselage for Apache helicopters.

The details about the site and the timelines are yet to be announced by the companies.

Boeing and TASL have also signed a JV for the manufacture of aerostructures for the AH-64 Apache helicopter in November. TASL has delivered composite panels for the power and mission equipment cabinets and auxiliary power unit door fairings for the P-8I long-range maritime surveillance and anti-submarine warfare aircraft.

Boeing and Tata group companies have established partnerships in India to manufacture aerostructures for Boeing’s commercial and military aircraft.

"Majors like Boeing and TASL come with their suppliers and that means ancillary units. This translates into more local employment. This will also have an effect on the 1,000-odd small and medium enterprises already working in the sector, for whom this will be an ideal opportunity to scale up their number and progress from being Tier III, to Tier II and eventually Tier I positions," Chief Minister of Telangana K. Chandrasekhar Rao said at Defence & Aero-supply Conclave 2015 Wednesday.
