Norway has set up a defense equipment agency responsible for acquisition and production in the sector.

“Forsvarsmateriell’s foremost mission is to support the Armed Forces and the country's defense capability. Ultimately, it's all about helping to deliver operational capability - as it is throughout the sector,” Minister of Defence Ine Eriksen Søreide said in a statement Wednesday.

Forsvarsmateriell will manage about a quarter of the defense budget. It will carry out tasks that include planning, procurement and managing materials for the defense sector.

Establishment of Forsvarsmateriell was done by transferring of divisions, investment staff and part of the staff of the Defence Logistics Organisation.
