The US Navy’s F-35 variant fighter recently launched its first test of 1000 pound, air-to-surface Joint standoff Weapon (JSOW) in a test conducted by US Navy.

The Lockheed Martin Corp.-made F-35C conducted the exercise March 23 at Naval Air Station Patuxent River in Maryland, according to a statement released last Thursday from the F-35 program office.

The US Navy plans to conduct more tests during exercises in 2016. There was no mention about the type of target. JSOW is made by Raytheon and is integrated on legacy fighters including F-15, F-16 and F/A-18 and also on bombers, B-1B and B-2.
